The Community of the Cross
March 1, 2026
A Pre-Easter Journey through Acts 2:42–47
What does a cross-shaped community look like? During Lent, we will walk through Acts 2:42–47 and explore how the life of the early church reflected the pattern of Christ’s cross and resurrection. In a culture shaped by self-interest and distraction, the cross forms a different kind of people — a community marked by devotion, generosity, worship, prayer, and joy.
Each week we will consider one facet of this cruciform life:
- Devotion — A cross-shaped commitment to Christ and His Word
- Fellowship — A cross-shaped generosity that holds all things with open hands
- Breaking Bread — A cross-shaped communion centered on Christ’s sacrifice
- Prayer — A cross-shaped dependence rooted in surrender to the Father
- Praise — A cross-shaped joy that shines even in the shadow of suffering
Lent invites us not merely to reflect on the cross, but to be formed by it. As we gather for worship and practice these rhythms together, we ask God to shape us into a community that bears witness to resurrection life — a people who live in the shadow of the cross and in the hope of Easter.
Join us this Lenten season as we become, together, the Community of the Cross.

"We exist to help people know Jesus here in San Antonio and around the world."
